

John Maynard, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away at home, Friday January 8, 2016. He was born February 7, 1946 in Syracuse, New York. In 1972, John married Susan Rose at the Catholic Student Center at the University of Texas.
He received his B.S. degree in Zoology from the University of Texas, B.A. from St. Edwards University and M.Ed. in Education from Texas State University. John also attended Notre Dame University.
John enjoyed his career as a professor and L.P.C. at the Austin Community College. He was a “marathon” reader of books, a world class ranked chess player and won many chess tournaments in Texas. He also was an avid deep-sea fisherman and looked forward to going to the beach to spend time with family and friends. He loved the holidays and watching the University of Texas and Norte Dame Football games. John had a positive outlook and was always ready to help others.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Catherine Maynard, sister; Marychris Corbally, brother; Terry Maynard.
John is survived by his wife; Susan, son; Patrick Arthur Maynard and daughter-in-law; Katherine Collen Maynard, grandchildren; Taylor, Baylee, Layla.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Rosary
will begin at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Mass Service will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M., at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church.
