

He served his country with integrity during the Vietnam War as a member of the Infantry 101st Airborne Division.
After graduating from Knightstown Indiana High School in 1957 he earned a basketball scholarship to Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC.
During his long, colorful life, he worked in finance and later retired from the US Postal Service as a mail carrier in Austin, Texas.
His hobbies and favorite pastimes include: women’s sports, little league baseball, college basketball, and the Dallas Cowboys. He liked to “people watch,” network with friends and neighbors, and enjoyed sharing his life experiences.
He is preceded by Anne, his wife of seventeen years, who passed away in 2002, as well as his mother, father, a daughter-in-law, and a stepdaughter.
John will be remembered by his five children: daughters, Rhonda (Steve) Kovach, Susan (Billy) Eakright, his sons, John “Jay” Taylor, Anthony “Gus” (Gayla) Taylor, Christopher “Chris” (Tammi) Taylor, his eleven grandchildren: Dawn Brown, Jacob (Megan) Eakright, Joe Eakright, Derek Taylor, Evan (Alyssa) Taylor, Chelsie (Derek) Bailey, Justin (Lindsay) Taylor, Megan (Dusty) Asberry, Zachary (Abigail) Taylor, Samantha Taylor, Jacob Taylor, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two stepchildren: John (Yvonne) Hanen, Reita (Shawn) Smith. seven step-grandchildren: Mary (Kyle) Sharp, Crystal (Robert) Shaw, John Hanen Jr, Marissa (Jason) Warden, Gunner (Kelsey) Smith, Paula (Jason) Alward, JD Gouchenouer (Juanita Snedeker) and thirteen step-great-grandchildren.
