

John was born in Sweetwater, Texas February 14, 1923. He was one of five children of devoted parents, the late Eleanor and Jesse Tubb.
John is survived by his sister Martha Jane Aldred of Houston, and his beloved Dorothy Ann Waldron and her son Charles Waldron of Austin, along with nieces, nephews and innumerable friends.
John was a graduate of the University of Texas and a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. During WWII he served in the United States Army Artillery. John was a Dain Rauscher stockbroker for 42 years until his retirement on May 6, 2005. He was a member of the Headliners Club of Austin and an avid jogger along the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail. While enjoying casual running, John also won a number of local marathons.
John was committed to the Salvation Army where he received their Certificates of Appreciation for his service as Chairman and Treasurer of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. John and Dorothy Ann dedicated many joyful Thanksgivings as volunteer servers for the agency's massive Thanksgiving dinner. "It makes me feel very thankful for the many things God has done for me," John said. "I am giving something back."
At University Presbyterian Church he was a deacon and a member of the investment committee. He and Dorothy Ann taught a class for mentally handicapped children for many years, acting as their mentors.
Much appreciation goes to the dedicated staff at Westminster Health Care Center, care givers, and to Hospice Austin.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 1st at University Presbyterian Church, 2203 San Antonio St, Austin with reception to follow. Interment will be private.
