Johnnie Jones was born in Navasota, Texas on July 21st, 1913 to Robert Oscar Davis and Ollie Danford Davis. Johnnie passed away October 6th, 2004. Johnnie married Fred B. Jones on September 2, 1933. While living in East Texas, Dallas and Hico, they had and raised three boys, Fred Jr., Harvey and Jerry. Her husband died in 1956 but she is survived by all three children. During her life she traveled to her grandmothers house in a wagon and saw the first man land on the moon. Johnnie was a witty, happy, loving woman who instilled in her children her compassion and vitality for life. She bought red shoes at age 40, learned to ice skate at 50 and had her first drink at 75. She was an accomplished student of bridge who was more interested in the game and the playing than the winning. She was a life long student of positive thought and proper etiquette. Johnnie knew her own mind and lived by a strict moral code. We have lost an extraordinary person. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9th, 2004 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78705 - (512) 452-8811.
