

Johnny William Wright passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014. He was born to Clara and Elmo Wright in Lytton Springs, Texas on February 19, 1935. He was the youngest of five brothers and one sister. They moved to Austin, Texas in the early 40's. He attended Metz, played football at Allan Jr. High and graduated from Austin High School in 1953.
He served in the Korean War from 1954 to 1956, after returning from the Army he married Barbara Palla on May 2, 1958. They moved to Dallas for a short time where he was a sheet metal worker. They moved back to Austin which they now call home. They had a daughter who died at birth and a son, Rickey.
John was a surveyor here in Austin from 1960 till he retired in 1995. He surveyed many malls, roads and subdivisions in Austin, Lago Vista, Killeen, Lake Jackson and many more places around Texas.
He loved playing dominoes, especially 42. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, country music, especially Johnny Cash. Of all sports he liked the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys football. And anyone that needed their car fixed they would bring it to John.
His one wish was to be baptized, which was fulfilled late in life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Elmo Wright; brothers, Carrol Elmo Jr., Frank and Ray; daughter, Wanda Gayle died at birth.
Johnny is survived by his one surviving sister, Mildred Spillar of Oklahoma; wife, Barbara (Austin); son, Rickey (Lytton Springs); and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Luling Nursing Home and Hospice for all they did and Monte Siesta Nursing Home for taking care of him in his last five months.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Lytton Springs Cemetery, Lytton Springs, Texas.
