Jorge León Agustí passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Austin, Texas, on Friday, August 27, 2021. Born on May 31, 1936 in Bogotá, Colombia, son of Jorge León Forero and Isabel Agustí Pastor. Jorge graduated from University of Rochester in New York as a mechanical engineer. Subsequently he obtained a Master’s Degree in structural engineering at the University of Michigan.
On March 18, 1961, he married María Eugenia Gómez, they had 4 girls: Sandra, Claudia (Terry Shapiro), María Isabel (Ivan Mustain) and Carolina (Hugo Diago) and seven grandchildren. During 30 years he worked in different consulting engineering firms, in Bogotá, as a structural designer. His priority was always his family and their wellbeing. He worked with passion and commitment, but also enjoyed partying with friends during the weekend; dancing, singing and having some drinks, was his favorite pass time.
In 1991, he retired from consulting engineering and started working in the construction of the prestigious bilingual school, Gimnasio Fontana, cofounded by his wife, Maria Eugenia, in Bogotá. He also taught math and physics to high school students until 2011. Shortly thereafter, they retired, became residents of USA and moved, first to Tampa, Florida, and then to Austin, Texas, where he thoroughly enjoyed his home with family and friends for the past seven years.
