Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Edwin Bosher and Annie Lee Graham Bosher.
Joyce loved her family, which grew with every person she met. She had 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, 16 Nieces and Nephews and 23 Great Nieces and Nephews and 9 Great-Great nieces and nephews! Joyce also had many “adopted” children which she loved with an open heart, hence the names Mama Joyce, Auntie, Mom, Nannie, Aunt Joyce, and mostly friend.
Joyce was raised in Cleburne, TX, and after several moves, she made Midland her home where she married David Britcher on Dec. 3, 1986. Joyce worked at SW Bell from February 1980 to July 1988 in different positions starting as personnel clerk. She moved to district secretary and then on to Senior Stenographer. In 1988, she started her employment at the Midland Emergency Communication District as the Administrative Aide where she quickly moved into the Director of Communication on May 15, 1989. She was a member of NENA, APCO and the Texas Alliance of Directors where she served as Vice-Chair until her retirement. She received her certification as an ENP (Emergency Number Professional) and received many continuing education certificates as she was always learning and staying abreast of upcoming technologies.
Joyce also held the positions of:
10\1992 West Coast Regional Coordinator
06\1993 Postal Advisory Council
09\1994 Postal Advisory Council Chairperson
Joyce has always had a knack for leadership. Who here has not been “led” by Joyce. Whether you knew it was happening or not, she has always had a way of steering us down the right path, even if it might not have been the one we chose….AND….usually her path was the better! Joyce always saw each of us as the person we could be and made sure we all knew we would be that person!
After Joyce’s retirement in 2013, she was given a great honor in exchange for her 25 years of hard work and dedication by presenting her with the building dedicated which brought tears of joy to her eyes. Never in a million years would she have dreamed of such an accomplishment, especially to such a humble lady. Her family couldn’t be more proud!
Joyce and David made their “retirement residence” in Leander where she could be closer to her kids and grandkids, however nothing could slow her down. They spent many years traveling all over the country, starting with their weekend trips on their motorcycles, traveling in their 5th wheel camping with family and friends and finally last year she and David began to live their dream of traveling around in their bus and seeing their favorite destinations. Over the years they traveled with so many friends and special groups where they formed bonds that have made their retirement years such a blessing.
