Joyce was born on August 4, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio. After graduating from Brandon High School in Brandon, Florida in 1965, she went on to graduate from Mather School of Nursing at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA in 1968.
Joyce’s mother, Ruby, installed in her the motto “when life gives you lemons make lemonade.” Joyce embodied this belief. When she was unable to pursue her occupation of nursing, which she loved, she volunteered to help senior citizens with their finances. When she could no longer physically do the things she loved, like traveling and camping, she took up quilting, and card and jewelry making. When she was no longer able to live on her own, she joyfully moved into her assisted living community. Joyce’s strength and perseverance allowed her to enjoy her life despite her health challenges. Her smile and positive attitude will be remembered by all that knew and loved her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father Jason Bisher, her mother Ruby Bisher, her brother Galen Bisher, and her beloved husband Darrel Cann.
Joyce is survived by her children, Tammy Pick Jones and Gerard Pick (Roddy), and grandchildren, Russell Jones, Katherine Jones, Audrey Jones and Avery Pick, and countless friends near and far.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Joyce to AGE of Central Texas.
