JR is preceded in death by his Dad, Jimmy Meredith.
He is survived by his mom Carol, wife Michaella, daughter Kylie and son Kyle, his brother Bryan and wife, Courtney.
JR grew up in south Austin. Growing up, JR played baseball, enjoyed fishing and earned the name ‘hard head’. He graduated from Travis High School in Austin, Texas, in 1998.
After high school, JR worked for South Austin Auto Supply and then began his career with Travis County as an equipment operator and eventually a supervisor. Most recently, he worked for Commercial Towing in Buda as a dispatcher.
JR was an avid baseball fan. He loved watching baseball of any level. He also coached baseball for several organizations, most recently the Warhawks. The other coaches will tell you, ‘He was dedicated to the success of the players and families.’
JR enjoyed taking the family on road trips, especially to destinations near water where he and the family could enjoy fishing. He was also quite the outdoor cook. Whether on the pit or the pellet grill, his food was always tasty. He also looked forward to hunting season every year, spending time with McLemore’s at the ranch.
Of course JR loved racing, too. During his racing career, JR won a Pure Stock championship. He also helped his dad and his brother as an integral part of the Meredith Racing team.
JR had recently taken an interest in a new hobby, gardening. He was very excited when he talked about his plans and all that he was going to grow for his family and to share with others.
If you knew JR at all, you know he loved to sit around and chat. He would talk to anyone about anything, for as long as you’d let him. Those who encountered him also got the privilege of his constant jokes and smiles. He truly never met a stranger. He will be missed greatly by all.
