Judith (Yeager) Bassetti, 80 passed away in Austin, TX, on Monday, January 9, 2023. Judy was born March 12, 1942 in Cody, Wyoming to John Francis Yeager and Lucina Mary Quint. She graduated from Austin High School in 1960 and then went on to The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in Education where she met Robert Dalton Bassetti of Abilene, Texas. Judy and Bob married on May 30, 1964, after their graduation and were married for 48 years.
Married life was put on hold while Bob accepted the commission to serve our country in Viet Nam. Judy remained stateside teaching school and mailing him letters daily.
As a dedicated wife and mother in a transient Air Force family, Judy lived and raised two children in many locations, including Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming; Rome, Italy; Ramstein Air Base, Germany and Reston, Virginia. She and Bob ultimately settled in Austin to be near their children, both of whom also graduated from The University of Texas at Austin.
Judy’s greatest love was her family. She was an exceptional wife and mother and she cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews were proud to call her Mom and Gigi. She will be greatly missed by all who are blessed to have known her.
Judy is survived by her two children; her son, Robert John Bassetti, daughter-in-law, Allison, and grandchildren Ciara and Maddox, and her daughter, Jennifer Bassetti Teague, son-in-law, Aaron, and grandson, William; also by her brother, John Yeager, and her sister, Betty Yeager Burdett, all of Austin, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dalton Bassetti, her father, John Francis Yeager, her mother, Lucina Quint Yeager, and her brother David Alan Yeager.
Visitation and Rosary will be recited the 29th of January 2023, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Austin, Texas. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on the 30th of January 2023, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Austin, Texas. Interment is at Austin Memorial Park.
