Judy Almetra Gary

Judy A. Gary was born April 16, 1974, to George and Ruby Gary in Austin, Texas. She attended school in Austin; and graduated from Crocket High School where she ran track and played basketball. Born to her were two beautiful daughters, Shantrell McFarland and JonTashia Houston.

Judy accepted Christ at an early age while attending True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Austin, Texas and baptized under the leadership of Pastor J.R. Williams. During her youthful days, she was active in the Jr. Usher Board and Angel and Action choir.

She loved R&B music, relaxing at home spending most of her time in front of the television watching her favorite shows when she was not at her favorite bingo spot. While hanging out with her family and friends, she loved playing a challenging game of spades; daring anyone to renege.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother George and Ruby Gary, brother Raymond Davis and sister Debra Gary and Grandmother Mozell Davis.

She is survived by her daughters Shantrell McFarland and JonTashia Houston, and granddaughter Kennedy McFarland; brothers George and Robert Gary; David, James, Charles, Leonard, and Kelly Allen and sisters Rutha Robinson; Alice Allen, Delores Jackson and Linda Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Judy will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fuller Sheffield Funeral Services, 2808 E Martin Luther King Jr, Austin, TX 78702. A celebration of life will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1710 E 20th St, Austin, TX 78722. A committal will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
