

Julius Frederick Kramer, Jr., age 78, of Austin, Texas passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 9, 2015. He was born on July 16, 1936 in New Braunfels, Texas, the only child of Julius Fred and Mabel George (Cross) Kramer. A longtime resident of Austin, he was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
Fred, fondly referred to as “Dr. K,” practiced family medicine in the central Texas area for many years. He never tired of learning about new medical discoveries and techniques and believed in treating his patients in a kind and loving manner. In addition to his medical practice, alongside his dad, and later with his sons, he managed a family business, Austin Armature Works. He was also active in the oil and gas industry and real estate.
Fred had many interests, including traveling, taking cruises, square dancing, skiing and enjoying Texas barbecue. He particularly enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Peggy Jean Breeding Toliver. He is remembered with love by his four children and four step children, Julia (Mike) Lynch and Julius “Ted” (Katie) Kramer III, from his marriage to Lou Ann Martin, Kristin (Stan) Dalley and Jay (Allison) Kramer, from his marriage to Florence Winter, Tim Toliver, Rebecca (Chris) Seeligson, Melinda (David) Blake and Micah (Mary Kim) Toliver. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Ellen (Don) Quigley, Elizabeth Lynch, Andrew Lynch, Julius Kramer IV, Kailyn Alvarado, Kyle Dalley, Kendra Dalley, Heather Dalley, Kaden Kramer, Sienna Kramer, Cory Toliver, Jackson Blake, Michelle Blake, Travis Blake, Brooke Toliver and Hunter Toliver and one great grandson, Camron Toliver. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Fred and Mabel George Kramer, and wife, Florence Winter Kramer.
Our love goes with him, always, and he will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be made to support student scholarships for the inaugural class of the Dell Medical School at UT Austin, 1912 Speedway, Suite 562, Sanchez Building/D20000, Austin, 78712.
Services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3525 Bee Cave Road. A celebration of life will follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks, 14501 North IH-35 in Pflugerville. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 North Lamar.
