Karen Sue Wells of Austin,Texas, passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on October 19, 1955 in Ohio, where she grew up with her 3 siblings and was surrounded by a large and loving extended family.
In her early years, Karen enjoyed playing with her friends and siblings in Ohio. She received her associates degree from Eastern Kentucky University and then started a family in Ohio. She moved from Ohio to South Carolina in 1988 where she made life long friendships and raised her two children David and Sarah. In 1999, she moved to Austin, Texas and her love of Texas football took hold.
Karen was known for her playful attitude, adventurous spirit, and kind heart. She was an avid supporter of Texas football, loved the beach, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She was a loving woman who valued her time and experiences with family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Patricia Helsinger and her brother Wiliam Helsinger.
She is survived by her children David Wells and Sarah Pettit; two grandchildren Benjamin and Zachary Wells; and her siblings Jim and Tom Helsinger.
The family would like to thank Hospice Austin for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
