

Katie was born in Creedmoor, Texas on March 21, 1932, to Autry (Otto) Dawson and Cloma Mathis Dawson.
Katie accepted Christ into her life at an early age, uniting with the Center Union Baptist Church, Creedmoor, Texas. She believed and kept her faith all throughout her life.
Katie met and married James Lee Morris, Sr. In this union they raised five children.
Katie was always surrounded by her children. Her children doted on their mother all of their lives. They always made sure she had everything she needed and almost everything she wanted. Katie was always immaculately dressed, hair and makeup always done,
Katie was an amazing cook with such delicious food as turkey and dressing, the best fried pork chops and chicken. Fresh fried com, pinto beans and cornbread just to name a few. She also mastered baking with tea cakes, varieties of cakes, peach cobbler, and mouth watering lemon meringue pies.
Katie loved being a homemaker. She enjoyed staying home and keeping busy. Each day brought a different project. Her housekeeping skills were impeccable. There was never any dust or dirt to be found in her house. Katie also had a sharp eye for interior decorating. She was an avid Gardner. Mowing the grass and planting flowers brought her joy. Her flowers grew tall with brilliant colors.
Katie always prayed, especially for children and family. Her children were her greatest joy, and she always thanked God for blessings.
Katie Lee Dawson Morris was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; W .J. (Jay), Autry (Caton); Verdell (Shorty); and Alvin (To To). Her husband James Lee Morris, Sr.
Katie Lee Dawson Morris, is survived by three daughters, Linda, Sarah (Phillip), and Barbara; two sons, James, Jr., and Richard four grandchildren; Alyssa, Tyler, Jaeden, and Joshua; One great grandchild; Mylah. Special Cousin 1 Bettye H. Sanders and a host of relatives.
