Keith Scott Hogan passed away on April 14, 2010. From the day he was born, Keith fought hard to have a life of meaning. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 at the age of 2. His parents and grandparents raised him to believe he could do or accomplish anything, and he did. Keith graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Finance degree and began his banking career, ultimately rising to the position of Executive Vice President of FirstCapital Bank. He moved to Austin in 2000 where he established his real estate investment and development career. In 2008, Keith suffered respiratory failure and was placed on a trache which may have slowed his movement, but did not stop him. At the time of his death, Keith was making plans for the next phase of his life including a credit union for people with disabilities so that other people with disabilities could achieve that which he considered his greatest personal accomplishment: he got to have a "normal" life. He was happily married to his great love, Ruth Glendinning, sharing their home with three dogs, surrounded by friends, and living a life of meaning. With that accomplishment, he truly can rest in peace. Keith is survived by his parents John & Linda Lentz Elmore and Al & Judy Hogan; his two brothers Steve and Carter; nephew Zac; his Uncle Lee and Aunt Marni, cousins Brett & Wyatt and their families, and his grandmother Freddye Hogan. He was predeceased by A.L. Hogan Jr., Zac Lentz, Evelyn Moore Lentz and Walter Glendinning. He was eternally grateful for the friendship and mentoring of Mike Hunter and his 'sisters' Stephanie Hunter and Lisa Cohen and the support of his long-time personal care attendants Ken Madrigal and Bruce Banks. These are just some of the many people who deeply impacted Keith and made it possible for him to create a meaningful life. He and Ruth met in 2006 and it was love at first sight. They remained devoted to each other through all the joys and sorrows of their years together and remain an example of the truism, "All things are possible through love." A viewing is scheduled for 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Saturday, April 17 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 2620 South Congress Avenue 78704. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery located at Red River and Main in Victoria Texas at 1pm on Saturday April 24, 2010. All friends and family are welcome at both services. Throughout his life, Keith was committed to supporting those who could not always advocate for themselves. In lieu of flowers, he would appreciate you making a donation to the charity of your choice so that others may benefit from the kind of generosity he enjoyed during his life.
