Kenneth Morgan Gilliam (88) of Round Rock, TX passed away on October 19, 2019. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 15, 1931 to Lola and Paul Gilliam. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 18 years before returning to The University of Texas and receiving a degree in Education. He taught Spanish in the Austin Independent School District for 21 years.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gilliam, mother, Lola Morgan Gilliam and one sister, Colleen. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane Hornsby Gilliam, daughters, Lisa Gilliam and Amy Rodriguez, son-in-law, Gabriel Rodriguez and granddaughter, Analisa Rodriguez.
Kenneth and Jane met at University Christian Church in Austin where he served as a deacon. He later served as an elder at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is currently a member at Hyde Park Baptist Church.
Following retirement, he became a licensed amateur radio operator. Kenneth enjoyed family time at New Song Ranch in Llano County where he and Jane rebuilt the house and spent many happy years together in the Texas hill country.
Kenneth served his country in the Army Reserves. He was a Master Mason for over 60 years as a member of the Hill City Lodge #456.
Visitation will be at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 N. Lamar Blvd in Austin on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral service on Saturday, October 26 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Hornsby Bend Cemetery immediately following the service.
