Kipling Cowan Harvey, 47, died suddenly December 1, 2015. He was born to Karen and Fred Harvey in Alpine, Texas, on September 27, 1968, and was the youngest of their three children. His early years were spent at the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis. The family moved to Austin in 1972 and Kip was a member of the class of 1987 at Reagan High School. His two children, Katy & Patric, were his greatest joy and a tremendous source of pride, and he always felt that they were his greatest accomplishment.
Kip loved his life—fashion, music, food, dancing, golf, history, football—but above all, he loved his family and the friends he shared these pleasures with. He never exited a room without a new friend; people were drawn by his joie de vivre and stayed because of his charming, gracious, and loving ways. We will miss him.
Survivors include his children, Katy Harvey and Patric Cowan Harvey, their sister Faith Wilcox and mother Ginnie, her husband Keith Wilcox, and daughter of the heart, Molly Young; parents, Karen and Fred Harvey; sister, Leslie Harvey Montminy, her husband JF, and their children Josephine and Conrad; brother, J. Harvey and Pam; uncles, Kevin Rice, Gordon Rice, and their families, of Vermont; aunts, Ellen Kenney, Judy Kenney, and Terri Kenney, of New England; numerous cousins in Fort Worth; and canine companions Robbie and Rose.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Weed-Corley Fish, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. Please consider a donation to Sober Austin or Austin Pets Alive
