

Kurn Kenneth Moore (K.K.), age 87, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004. Mr. Moore was born in Elgin, Texas, to H.H. and Emma Pepper Moore on August 28, 1916. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Thomas Hugh and Selby B. Moore; sisters Ruth Jane Moore, Cordelia Kline, Velma Emma Kilcoyne, Selma Alice Atchison; step-son Joseph Cogbill, Jr. and former wife Frances Allen Moore. K.K. is survived by his wife Mariam Cogbill-Moore; daughter Julie Tanksley and husband William J. of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren Orrin and Kira Tanksley; sister Helen Louise Wood and husband Roy of Arlington, Texas; step-children Janice Jackson and husband Will of Dallas, Texas; Robert Mahone and wife Joyce of Kerrville, Texas; and Dolores Webber of Austin, Texas. K.K. graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1939 with a chemical engineering degree. He was employed by the Texas Highway Department before joining the U.S. Army during World War II. K.K. participated in all three theaters and retired with the rank of Major in 1953. Following his retirement, he returned to his position with the Texas Highway Department where he retired in 1983. K.K. was a long time member of Central Christian Church and the Austin Elks Lodge #201 BPOE. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
