Larry Newell Greenhaw passed away on December 1, 2024 in Austin, Texas. Larry was born in Norman, Oklahoma to Newell Harry Greenhaw and Bertha “Rusty” Mae Greenhaw on March 6, 1948. Larry graduated from Midwest City High School in 1966, then went on to the University of Oklahoma where he was a clarinet player in the Pride of Oklahoma.
Larry was a big fan of the Texas Longhorns Men’s Basketball team, attending the very first game in the Erwin Center all the way through to the last. He loved to coach the team from his seat and keep the officiating on track.
Larry was a dedicated member of University United Methodist Church in Austin, serving as an usher for over 30 years.
Remaining to honor Larry’s memory are his daughter, Kelly (Greenhaw) Cushing and her children, Alexandra Cushing and Austin James (AJ) Cushing, his sister, Pamela (Greenhaw) Terry, her husband Sid Terry and their children Matt Terry and Bryan Terry.
A memorial service for Larry will be held at University United Methodist Church in Austin, TX on January 18, 2024 at 2pm with fellowship to follow.
Memorial donations in Larry’s memory may be directed to the Austin Humane Society in honor of his love of animals.
