

Laura Walker Laura Amill Walker, age 54, of Austin passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005. She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Amill and grandmother, Julia Zertuche. She is survived by her mother, Mary Rose Amill of San Juan, Puerto Rico; husband, John F. Walker and daughters, Julia and Natalie Braulick all of Austin. Laura graduated from Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio and received her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Houston. She was a PhD candidate at the University of Texas in Austin. Laura taught K-12 in Houston and Arlington as well as University of Texas in San Antonio. She especially loved teaching at Venture High School for the at risk/drop-out youth. Laura loved educating children and adults. She was keenly interested in technology and its educational applications. She loved literature, music, opera, and cinema especially sci-fi and space time travel. Laura was a loving wife, mother and daughter. Her kindness touched everyone she met. We will miss her and she will always be with us in our hearts. The family would like to extent special thanks to Dr. Michael G. Teneriello and staff of Texas Oncology Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Kenneth Perret, for their kindness and care for Laura throughout her illness. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 5455 Bee Cave Road, Austin, Texas, 78746, with Monsignor Edward Jordan officiating.
