Born to Laurens B. Fish, “Larry”, and Elizabeth Doss Fish, he attended the University of Texas, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Following college, Laurens moved to San Marcos, Texas where he owned a Culligan Water distributorship. It was in San Marcos that he was introduced to the love of his life, Julia Corley.
Laurens and Julia were married and settled in Austin, where they raised their two children, Elizabeth and Laurens B. Fish III. Julia preceded him in death in July of last year. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth McCoy and her husband Jim; his son, Laurens and his wife Melanie; and his grandchildren Jake McCoy and his wife Sophia, Burke McCoy and his fiancée Emma Snedden, Lawson Fish and his fiancée Hannah Vandermeer, Merritt Fish and her fiancé Harry Stathakis, and May Fish.
Upon his marriage to Julia, Laurens joined the Weed Corley Fish family business and had a distinguished career of caring for families with kindness and respect during their most difficult times.
Laurens brought laughter and fun to every gathering and trip, but his greatest accomplishment and the biggest joy of his life was his family. He especially loved spending time with family and fishing in Port Aransas, one of his favorite places. He was also blessed over the years by several wonderful black labs, including his last constant companion, Molly.
The family extends sincere thanks to Laurens’ faithful caregivers, Paul Estrada, Mary Bailey, and Rose Rosales.
