

Leonard L. Piotrowski was born on August 21, 1940, in Belfield, ND, to Charles Leon Piotrowski and Josephine (Duletski) Kordonowy. After graduating from high school in Belfield, Leonard served in the US Navy for three and a half years aboard the USS Coral Sea. Following his military service, Leonard pursued studies in Electrical Engineering at Valparaiso University.
After college, Leonard ventured to West Texas to work in the oil fields for Texaco. His career later transitioned to the rapidly evolving field of computers, beginning at IBM in Houston, Texas, and spanning across various cities before settling in Austin, Texas. Leonard proudly dedicated 44 years to IBM, a career accomplishment he held in high esteem.
In Houston, Leonard met and married the love of his life, Gail (Yeary) Piotrowski, on July 1, 1969. Together, they joyfully raised two children, Lara (Piotrowski) Alexander in 1971, and Lance Piotrowski in 1973.
Leonard found immense pleasure in a variety of hobbies including restoring classic cars, enjoying quality time with family and friends, golfing, scenic drives through the hill country, and most importantly, showering his granddaughter, Avery Gail Winters, with affection.
Known for his engaging conversational style, Leonard effortlessly forged friendships wherever he went. He cherished family trips to Colorado and the Texas coast, and never passed up a chance to enjoy a good Tex Mex meal.
Leonard is survived by his daughter, Lara (Piotrowski) Alexander and son, Lance Piotrowski and his wife Dawn Piotrowski; granddaughter, Avery Gail Winters; sisters, Vickie Schneider, Charlene Prause, and Brenda Roller; brothers, Larry Piotrowski and Charles Piotrowski; numerous nieces and nephews; and step granddaughters Ashley and Amber Howell.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail Piotrowski; father, Charles Piotrowski; mother, Josephine (Piotrowski) Kordonowy; stepfather, Bill Kordonowy; sisters, Marie Cerkoney, Barbara Lawrence, Marjorie Hoffman, and Virginia Palaniuk; and brothers, John and Joseph Piotrowski. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate nurses at Seton Hospital for their unwavering care.
