Lois graced us with her presence on November 29th 1942. She was born in Junction City, Kansas, and grew up in Salina, Kansas. Lois was surrounded by family. She had two brothers and 4 sisters. All but two have preceded her in death.
She was a lifelong member of The Rebekah's an international service-oriented organization. They believed that we are all brothers and sisters and that it was our duty to raise each other up and to take care of one another. That we should live by the golden rule. Lois fit right in. She took care of everyone that was lucky enough to come into her life. She was a loyal friend and mother figure to all, young and old. Lois was a caring confidant always willing to take you under her wing and guide you in her no-nonsense way and she was always willing to help, no matter the situation. She could give financial advice as good if not better than an accountant. She could even teach you how to jump on a trampoline. Even if it meant a sprained ankle.
Lois King met and married the love of her life, Philip Wier, on September 3rd 1960. Phil joined the Air Force shortly after marriage. And they traveled from Kansas to New Mexico, Alaska, North Carolina, New York, and back to Kansas. Finally they retired in Texas and laid down their roots. They managed to have three children and raise a loving family during all of those moves.
Lois enjoyed many different hobbies including, sewing, crocheting, quilting and knitting. She shared her skills with anyone that asked, from a simple hem to an ornate dress. She even created pillows out of a loved one’s clothing, creating hug pillows for those dealing with a loss. She was a master at her trade. Her talents didn't stop there. She enjoyed painting with acrylics, pastels and charcoal. She was also an avid reader. She was always busy.
There was nothing Lois loved more than her family and if you were in her presence, you WERE her family. She was quick to remind you to be, strong enough to stand alone. Smart enough to know when you need help and brave enough to ask for it. She wanted you to stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think about what could go right.
Lois left us on February 7th 2023 at 9:15 P.M. she slipped away quietly, joining her husband Phil, while surrounded by her children. She leaves behind two sisters, three children, Greg Wier, Theresa Wier Wise and Douglas Wier, seven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Not to mention countless friends.
Lois left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled and we thank her for that.
We love you Lois Elaine King Wier. RIP our guardian angel.
