

Louis P. Escalante, 86, founding member and lead singer of the iconic Royal Jesters, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Louis, a beloved figure in the San Antonio music scene, will be remembered for his soulful voice, kindness, and infectious smile that touched everyone he met. His dedication to music and family inspired generations, cementing his legacy as a cherished musician and devoted patriarch.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Louis built a legendary career with the Royal Jesters, captivating audiences with his smooth vocals and timeless performances. His talent and warmth earned him a lasting place in the hearts of fans worldwide. His family attributes their successes to his unwavering love, strength, and guidance.
Louis adored his wife, Dora, his sons, daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He cherished his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. His faith and love for angels carried him through life’s challenges, and his family finds solace knowing he now rests in peace, free from pain and suffering.
Preceded in death by his wife, Dora Buentello Escalante; father, Sebastian Escalante; and mother, Emilia Parada. Survived by his son, Luis Escalante, Jr. (wife Laura Linda); son, Mike Escalante (wife Fawn); daughter, Lizette Pleasanton; grandchildren, Gianna Sky Solares, Lindsay Denise Escalante, Zoe Kaitlyn Escalante, Marissa Chapa (husband Joseph), Marc Anthony Escalante, Evon Pleasanton, Remington Pleasanton; and great-grandchildren, Mateo Javier Chapa, Marcelo Julian Chapa, Maciel Joaquin Chapa. He is also survived by his brother, Richard E. Sifuentes; sisters, Janie Martinez and Olga Villanueva; and numerous loving family members and friends.
Louis’s family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Rosemary Lawson (husband Oscar Lawson, Royal Jesters founding member) and Henry Hernandez, Royal Jesters founding member, for their unwavering love and support. Special thanks also go to Felix Yruegas, Sr., for leading prayer warriors and Royal Jester fans for their prayers and spiritual devotion. The family also thanks the compassionate doctors and staff of Belterra Health and Rehabilitation Center and Texas Home Care & Hospice.
In his final moments, Louis was surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of God. Father Juan Mendez, Parochial Vicar at St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church, administered sacraments and prayers providing Louis with spiritual comfort and peace. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Father Mendez for his compassionate care and devotion in administering these sacred rites.
