Louise Long, age 94 passed away at her home in Jonestown with her family at her side. Louise was born on April 18, 1926 in Thorndale, Texas. She was married to the love of her life, Walter (Lupe) Long on June 5, 1948 and was together 41 years until he was taken away by cancer. She worked at Western Union three weeks after graduating from Austin High School in June 1944 and sometime later at DPS and part time at IRS. She loved to sew and spend time with her family and friends. In fact, you may have one of her pillows or potholders.
Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed, but her family and friends know that she is home safely and reunited with Lupe.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Lupe) Long, mother Villa Lankford, father Homer Lankford and all of her brothers and sisters. Louise was the last of eleven to go home to our heavenly father who will be met by friends and family when she goes through those pearly gates of heaven.
Louise is survived by her children, Mike and his wife Billie of Jonestown, Jerry and his wife Lori of Austin, grandchildren - Teri and husband Jeff, Traci and husband Tyler, George, Sam and wife Alaina, step grandchildren – Eric and wife Jennifer, Shawn, and Randi, great - grandchildren – Leila, Madi, Vivi, David and Beau, step great - grandchildren – Charlee, Alexis, Jordan, Ryan, Riley, Ava, Luke, Benton, Kael and Kaedyn and two great-great step grandchildren – Everlee and Elray and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by everyone and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held on April 8th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cook-Walden North Lamar. A funeral service will be held on April 9th at 2:00 pm at Cook-Walden (6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas) and burial at Austin Memorial Park (2800 Hancock Dr. Austin, Texas 78731. After the services, a gathering will be held at Jerry and Lori Long’s house.
