Lou Tanner passed away peacefully on January 18, 2015 at her home in Austin, TX at the age of 84. She was born in Rye, NY on March 27, 1930 to Louise and Ludwig Senft. She was little sister to brothers, Bobby and Dick.
In high school, Lou was President of the Girl‘s Athletic Association for Miami Beach High and Chaplin for the state of Florida. She was recognized as outstanding 1948 High School Basketball Guard by the state of Florida, and was a member of the Miami Beach Water Ballet.
Lou served in the Women’s Army Corps as a private 1st class during the Korean War with honorable discharge in 1953.
She retired from the Boy Scouts of America Sam Houston Area Council in 1995 after 28 years of service. Lou had a passion for scouting and children. She volunteered her time and talents to many scouting activities to include being both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.
Throughout the years she enjoyed many hobbies -avid reader, crocheting, nature watching, and above all caring for others. “Mom” was devoted to her “3 Angels” and we love her immeasurably. Anyone that knew her will miss her colorful sense of life and humor.
Lou is survived by her children Wendy Eason, April Rhoades, and Duke Tanner; grandson Jake Eason and his wife Morgan; granddaughter Jennie Rhoades and step-grandson Chris Rhoades; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Cali Eason and extended family and friends.
Per Lou’s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be placed by her family in a private Celebration of Life ceremony.
Her memorial will be Saturday, January 31, 2:00 pm, The Pavilion at Great Hills, 11819 Pavilion Blvd, Austin, TX. The chapel is on the second floor. Parking available across the street at Academy.
