

Born in McKinney, Texas in 1920, Louise was the daughter of Jerome Sneed, Jr. and Nancie Carter Sneed. The Sneed family moved to Austin in 1923. Louise attended Austin High School where she met her future husband, Harry Vine, III. After graduating in 1938, she attended the University of Texas, obtaining a degree in business administration. During her time at UT, she was an active member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, serving as its president in her senior year. In her junior year she served as president of Panhellenic. She also was selected as a member of Mortar Board.
In 1941, Louise was hired by Lady Bird Johnson as receptionist for the newly founded KTBC radio station; she soon became the accountant for the station, and continued in this position until 1949.
Louise and Harry, engaged throughout the long war years, were married in 1945 immediately after he returned from his war service. With Louise's father, Jerome Sneed, and her brother, Robert Sneed, Harry founded the Austin law firm, Sneed-Vine. There Louise worked for 40 years as office manager and head of accounting.
Louise and Harry were active members of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church where Louise served for many years as a deacon and elder. She also served as president of the Eanes School Board in the 1960s, and was active in the City of Westlake Hills as a member of the Zoning and Planning Commission and as a member of the city council. She worked with the Samaritan Council and was a long-time board member of the Austin Foundation for the Homeless, serving as its treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her children, Harry R. Vine and wife, Geralyn Blanda Vine (Orange, TX) and Nancy Vine Durling (Berkeley, CA); her grandchildren, Virginia Vine Gonzalez and husband, Rene Gonzalez, and Harry Bernard Vine; and one great grandchild. She also is survived by her sister-in-law Anna Sneed, and by her many devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Nancie and Jerome E. Sneed, her brother, Robert Sneed, her great-granddaughter Emma Carter Gonzalez, and her beloved husband, Harry Vine, III in 1986.
A memorial service will be held at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 20, at 3:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Harry Bernard Vine, Jerome Sneed, John Sneed, Scott Sneed, James Arth, and James Galloway. A reception at the church will follow the service.
