Lucille Virginia Leach Pribble was born 18 April 1908 and she went to be with her heavenly family on 26 June 2003. Lucille spent her youth in Bertram, Texas, among a large extended family. Her husband, Jim Pribble, her parents, Tom and Lucy Leach, and her two brothers, Thomas and John Bruce, preceded her in death. She graduated from Bertram High School in 1925. She had a second senior year in Lampasas, Texas, taking advanced classes in physics and math, graduating in 1926. She was proud of having been elected cheerleader in both schools. Lucille attended CIA (Texas Womens University) in Denton, TX, and in 1928 transferred to the University of Texas. She taught school in Bertram and at Baker in Austin to pay her way through school. Immediately after her arrival in Austin she joined the Central Christian Church. For years she was active in the Womens Circle and is now a Deaconess Emeritus. On the special train to go see the Texas/Texas A&M football game in 1928 she saw the man of her dreams and she told a friend, That is the man Im going to marry. And in 1933 she was indeed married to that man, the Love of her life, Jim Pribble. After a couple of years in Houston and the birth of their first son, Jim (Yonne), in 1935, they returned to Austin and stayed. Jim entered into the construction business with his father. He and Lucille built their dream house on Exposition Blvd. in 1938, which would remain their home for the rest of their lives. A second son, John Preston, was born in 1941. Lucille remained a housewife until both her children were in their teens. In 1953 she returned to teaching at Mrs. Scofields Kindergarten and 1st Grade on Enfield Road. In 1954 she became Director and first grade teacher at the Central Christian Church Day School. She remained Director of the school for the next 20 years. Immediately after retiring, she became a volunteer at The Old Bakery senior citizen craft shop on Congress Ave. She remained an active volunteer for the next 22 years at The Old Bakery, being named Volunteer of the Year for 1976-77. As a member of Delta Rho Delta, Gamma Chapter, she volunteered at the Childrens Hospital and Childrens Shelter. As a result of her volunteer work she was honored by the RSVP, the City of Austin and the State of Texas. Lucille loved to say that she was in the middle of seven generations of Texans, eight by marriage. She is survived by her sons, Jim (retired Staff Officer, DPS) and John (Col., USAF, Ret); Jims two ex-wives, Sketter Blaisdell and Carolyn Luter; four grandchildren, Barbara Smith and husband Avril (Bubba), Melissa Entsminger and husband Marc, Jimmy Pribble and wife Kimberly, Mike Pribble and wife Vanessa; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan and Kyndal Rivas, Charles and Christina Entsminger, Chase Pribble, and by marriage Megan Morales and husband John, and Allicia Smith; and two great, great grandchildren, McKenna Morales and Evan Haines. The family would like to thank Dr. Jill Ann Grimes, Dr. Sam Thompson, Dr. Swati Date and The Girling Hospice staff for showing the love of understanding our mother. On our mothers 90th birthday, over 5 years ago, she said that friends were the greatest gifts in life. There were over 200 people celebrating with her that day. During the last two weeks, over fifty friends have gathered in her bedroom to visit, tell stories and say goodbye. Our mother has touched a lot of lives as a teacher, volunteer, friend and mentor. In lieu of flowers Lucille asks that you consider donations to the Humane Society or Girling Hospice. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Capital Memorial Park, (Pflugerville Exit). Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas 78705 (512) 452-8811. View this Memorial at www.wcfish.com
