Lucy was a life-long resident of Austin Texas. She was a devoted wife to Julian Ramos, Sr. for 42 years. She is preceded in death by parents, Maria and Florencio Bargas; husband, Julian Ramos Sr., husband, Victor Abeita Sr.; son, Julian Ramos Jr.; and grandchildren, Yvonne Montoya and Robert Ramos Jr.
Lucy was the center around which her family (from her children to her great, great grandchildren) revolved. She found great joy in being surrounded by her family in celebration and went to great lengths to bring everyone together. She will be missed tremendously not only for her out-of-this world cooking (her tamales, tacos, enchiladas, green beans and her famous dressing) but for her unparalleled sense of humor and candor. While her chair is now empty, our hearts are left full.
Lucy is survived by her children, Mary Martinez, Dora DeLosSantos, Olga Burdine (George), Susie Martinez (Herbert), Robert Ramos, Sr. (Cathy), Margaret Alvarez (Amador), Virginia Corona (Charles), Edward Ramos (Wanda), Gloria Moreno (Rick) and Dolores Dominguez (Raul); daughter- in-law, Mari Ramos; sisters, Rosie Villalobos, Connie Day and Cora Bargas; brother, Albert Bargas and stepchildren, Irma Mercado, Victor Abeita Jr, and Sylvia Perez; 28 grandchildren; 43 great- grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucy was a devout Catholic, praying the rosary every day and served as a member of San Jose Catholic Church for 76 years. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 Ladies Auxiliary, serving for over 50 years.
Lucy loved to travel. She often traveled with her children and grandchildren, camping at many National and State parks, visiting New York, Hawaii, Canada, London, Mexico, Rome and her favorite casinos. Her favorite saying was "My bags are always packed!". She was a wonderful cook, often cooking for State officials with her job at the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. She often catered weddings and special events and most importantly, large meals for her family. Lucy's other love was her plants and flowers and could grow just about anything.
A special thank you to the entire staff of Hospice Austin, especially Sara Templeton, Molly Kee and Brian King. Thank you to Dr. Tom McHorse and especially his wife Kay for her undying love and friendship. We are forever grateful for the special care and support of our family members Robert and Cathy Ramos, Sandra Bargas and most importantly, Gloria Moreno.
