Lynn Carol Brown

Lynn passed away in Austin, Texas, on August 21, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph W. Nutt and Mattie Anderson Nutt, as well as all of her siblings and their spouses. She was the youngest of 9 children. Surviving Lynn are her husband Joe, daughter Pam (Kosta), grandchild Lexie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lynn was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi. Very soon after graduating high school, she married Joe; this year they would have been married 65 years. Joe, a member of the U.S. Air Force, moved the family around the world for 30 years, from the Gulf Coast, Texas, Europe and Hawaii, allowing Lynn to excel in a number of jobs in many different cities. She enjoyed more than 24 years working in Austin at the Texas State Purchasing and General Services Commission, from which she retired as a Purchaser.

Lynn’s faith was central to her life. She brought her integrity, kindness and loving patience to all that she did in this world, particularly for her family. Nana Lynn found her true calling when her grandchild finally arrived. Never had she quilted, cross-stitched, cooked or traveled as enthusiastically as when “her baby” was around her. Lynn was there for the first steps, first words, first movie, every babysitting opportunity, several Disney and overseas trips, many church events, and every creative thing she could do with her grandbaby.

Her family will celebrate Lynn in a graveside service to be held Thursday, August 28, 2025. Arrangements through Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
