Maria Luisa de la Morena D'Olhaberriague

Maria Luisa D'Olhaberriague was born November 1, 1938, in Madrid Spain. After graduating from high school from Colegio de Santa Isabel-La Asuncioin, she dedicated her time to painting and playing piano until she married Alfonso de la Morena in 1963. In 1969, Maria Luisa and her husband courageously immigrated to Chicago, Illinois with two small children--knowing little English and having no one to receive them in this country. Within the next decade, Maria Luisa gave birth to two more children in the Chicago area .

She loved her family and the many homes she nestled throughout the country, having moved constantly as her husband followed his medical career. Maria Luisa made many loving friendships with diverse people from different countries in the three cities she would call home: Chicago, Illinois; Washington D.C.; and Brownsville, Texas .

Maria Luisa enjoyed cooking and gardening, playing cards and tennis. She loved music, especially classical and Julio Iglesia. She made any gathering a better one, hosting many of them in our beautiful homes .

Maria is survived by her daughters, Almudena and Carmen, and her son Alfonso, as well as her grandchildren Pablo, Alfonso III, Ignacio, Jose Luis, Sophia, Julieta, Ines, Tomas and Claudia--all of whom live in Austin, Texas and who where a great joy to her. Also surviving are her siblings, Pilar Gil and Carlos D'Olhaberriague, both still in Spain.

Masses will be said in her name in Brownsville, Chicago, and Austin.

María Luisa de la Morena falleció el pasado jueves 27 de Diciembre en su casa, junto a su hija, Almudena, y su cuidadora por mucho tiempo Gabriela López.

María Luisa nació un 1 de Noviembre de 1938 en Madrid, España. Allí creció y estudió hasta el Bachillerato Superior.

Después dedicó su tiempo a pintar y tocar el piano hasta que se casó en 1963 con Alfonso de la Morena.

En 1969 María Luisa y su esposo con mucho valor emigraron de España a Chicago, Illinois,con dos hijos pequeños, sin tener ningún conocimiento del idioma inglés y sin nadie que los fuera a recibir.

En la siguiente década María Luisa dió a luz a otros dos hijos en el área de Chicago.

Ella amaba su familia y sus casas ya que se mudaban constantemente.

Maria Luisa hizo muchos amigos en todos los lugares y de diferentes países en las tres ciudades que ella consideraba su casa, Chicago, Illionois,Washington DC y Brownsville,Texas.

María Luisa disfrutaba cocinando y cuidando de su jardín, jugando a las cartas con amigas y también el tenis.

Le encantaba la música especialmente la clásica y Julio Iglesias.

Ella hacía de cualquier reunión la mejor, recibiendo a amigos en cualquiera de las casas que siempre hacía un hogar.

A María Luisa le sobreviven tres hijos, Alfonso, Almudena y Carmen.

Y nueve nietos, Pablo, Alfonso, Ignacio, José Luis, Sofía, Julieta, Inés, Tomás y Claudia. Todos ellos viven en Austin y siempre fueron una gran alegría para ella.

María Luisa tiene también dos hermanos

que viven en España, Carlos y Pilar D'Olhaberriague.

Cook-Walden/ Forest Oaks se ha encargado de hacer todos los arreglos necesarios incluido el funeral que se llevará a cabo el próximo sábado, 14 de Enero de 2017 a las 11.00 am.

También se van a ofrecer misas en su nombre en Chicago, Brownsville y en la ciudad de Austin.
