She was raised in North Carolina and had an unwavering work ethic, working at Burlington Industries and then Tyco Corporation until she was 75. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2007 to allow for family to provide for her care and to be closer to her great-grandchildren.
Marie had a passion for her family and her work. She had a sense of humor that always made you smile. Marie has been surrounded by family and her caretakers at Stonebridge Health Center, whom we are indebted to for making us all, feel at home.
She is survived by her sister and lifelong companion, Peggy Hart; her two beloved daughters, Rickie Leonard and Vickie Walton; her sons-in-law, P.D. Leonard and Cornel Walton; her five grandchildren; and her ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Monday, June 20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 10408 Highway 290 West, Austin, Texas. Marie will be laid to rest next to her parents in Greensboro, North Carolina. She will be dearly missed by us all.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in honor of Marie to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
