He graduated from Cedar Crest High School in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania in 1980. He graduated from Lincoln College of Technology with an associate degree in electrical engineering, and achieved a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington Summa Cum Laude and enjoyed many years working as an engineer.
Mark was involved in many volunteer activities supporting the ViperBots Robotics Club, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programs, as well as social services such as Mobile Loaves and Fishes, who empower communities into a lifestyle of service with people experiencing homelesness. He was also a regular volunteer at his church, Austin Christian Fellowship.
Mark’s paternal grandparents were Robert and Grace Flickinger. His maternal grandparents were William and Bess McKinney. He is survived by his two daughters, Grace and Abby Flickinger; his mother, Lynda Merle; his brother, Matthew Flickinger; and many other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held Friday June 3, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Austin Christian Fellowship, 6401 River Place Blvd, Austin, TX 78730.
