Mark was born on June 8, 1956, in Hobbs, NM, to Charles Maurice and Jeanice Bradford Penick. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, TX in 1975 and went on to earn a B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Houston College of Business. He then later achieved a M.B.A. from Liberty University in 2013. Mark began his career in the staffing industry with Link Staffing Services in 1989. In March 2021, his office was acquired by Snelling Staffing Services, where he continued to operate his franchise until his passing.
At the age of 16, Mark met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Pam, while at school in Houston. The two married on May 26, 1979, and together built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Their shared love for road trips to the beach turned into an annual family tradition with their four children: Brandon, Lauren, Allie, and Nathan.
A man of deep and unwavering faith, Mark prioritized his relationship with God throughout his life and served in multiple ministry roles over the years. He lived out his beliefs daily, leading by example with kindness, humility, and a servant's heart.
Mark had many hobbies, and his passion for life was evident to all who knew him. He had a love for singing and music, was a dedicated runner and champion marathoner, and enjoyed golfing, reading, yard work, and home projects. Known for his infectious laughter and great sense of humor, Mark could always be counted on to bring joy and laughter to any room. He was also a lifelong Houston Astros fan, and he enjoyed following the team over the years, often watching games and talking baseball with family.
One of Mark’s greatest joys was being a grandfather. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren—whether it was making them laugh, wrestling on the floor, or cheering them on at sporting events and recitals. These treasured memories will live on in their hearts forever.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Jeanice Penick, and his beloved grandson, Easton Micah Penick. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Pam Penick; his children, Brandon Penick (Joyce) of Austin, TX, Lauren Vinlove of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Allie Andrews (Justin) of West Lafayette, IN, and Nathan Penick of Austin, TX; and his grandchildren, Jayden Vinlove, Braxton and MeaBella Penick, and Josiah and April Andrews. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Penick (Beverly), David Penick, and Carol Penick (Ronnie Brandon); his father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Karen Pitts; mother-in-law, Barbara Potter; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
