

Mark grew up in Martinsville, Indiana and graduated from Martinsville High School in 1969. After high school, he attended IV Tech and Indiana Wesleyan where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He worked for Inland Container as an accounting clerk for 28 years. Mark married Brenda Briley in 1973 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mark enjoyed golfing, bowling, cards, dominos, movies and his kids and grandkids. He served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974 as a Buck Sgt, E4, including being deployed to Thailand during the war in Vietnam. Mark settled in Kyle, Texas and worked for Austin ISD as an accountant. Mark married Lisa Curwick in 2021 in Austin, Texas. He attended and served in both Austin Oaks Church and A Fountain of Life Worship Center.
Mark was preceded in death by Naomi and Thomas Prather, Joseph Oliver and Jaden Prather. Mark is survived by his wife Lisa Curwick Prather; his children, Ryan Prather, Randy Prather, Kerri Hoffman and Katie Prather; his sisters, Rhonda Burpo and Rebecca Marino; his grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Melia, Nivia, Eliana, Shawn, Gideon, Josiah and Calisa Prather, Christian Jeffrey, Cameron Timmons, Kindall and Coen Bishop, Trinity, Clara, and Elijah Hoffman; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on September 3, 2021 at Austin Oaks Church.
Mark was an exceptional husband, father and friend, always generous, kind, and willing to give the shirt off his own back. His love for his family was unconditional, biological or otherwise, and his tight hugs, big belly laughs, true friendship, and caring heart will be missed by all who knew him.
