Mary = Ken and I were shocked to see Mark's name in the AJC obits. We are so very sorry to learn of his death. Mary, I will always remember your beautiful wedding and that I was so honored to be included. You were such a lovely bride. And getting to the reception gave us an Atlanta adventure story to tell. I have such fond memories of working with you - we shared so many jokes and funny stories. When we read that Mark was a huge fan of Monty Python, Ken remembered that the two of them shared many laughs over Python jokes. Mark loved you so much. We remember that you two were a perfect match. 

We are thinking of you and your children. Know that you are remembered and loved over the miles. Take care, dear.

You had suggested the moniker of "Field Force" for our Lake Travis High School Band FEDS. It describes you.

When the only option was to purchase a new keyboard, you hand-made marimba teeth with a dremel and spare hose. When a simple accessories tray turned into a week-long project, you single-handedly got the job done. When deployment carts disintegrated to wood chips and rusty bolts in the 11th hour, you assembled replacements. It was never your child's percussion equipment in need of repair, yet your passionate insistence on smarter, less expensive and more durable ways to solve simple problems, renewed the pride and motivation our children needed to perform their best.

Your volunteerism took shape as a family effort. Mary and Connor worked  with you. And Caitlyn, after marching in the heat for 8 hours, waited those extra 15 minutes so you could finish "one last thing."

Your efforts inspire those of us who have admired you, to carry on your spirit. Hopefully soon, you will see our pyre in the LT Band lot. It will be in your honor that we find a Strickert Solution to the screen carts. 



My deepest sympathy for your loss. I did not know Mark or his family but was in Maui at the time of his passing. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you all peace and comfort. 



Mark, was a great colleague and friend. I worked with him for several years at HP and he was always there to help and assist in any way he could. Through working with him we eventually developed a friendship as we discussed our families, children, and love for adventure. I was so impressed by Mark's wit and technical abilities that I asked him for guidance while deciding on what to write about for my dissertation. When he sent me over his resume to obtain approval for my school I remember thinking "this is who I want to be like when I grow up". I loved being on conference calls with Mark because no matter what he added value to the discussion. He is and will continue to be missed and I already find myself daily remembering different things he said or did and thinking what he would say or do in a situation I am dealing with at work. As a woman who also lost my father due to a tragic accident at a young age I can honestly say I can imagine what his family is going through right now. What I can offer is that although the pain never goes away the Joy in the memories will grow as you realize how great and wonderful it was to have known and been a part of such a grand individual. You become more and more thankful to God for granting you the privilege of once having such a person in your life that you can talk about and share what you learned from them with others. You still wish they were here but you know they are in such a better place and you believe that when things go good for you that perhaps somehow they called in a favor on your behalf. When you get down again you eventually hear stories of others who never had someone like Mark in their lives as a father, husband, friend, or colleague, and you feel sad for them and only wish that they one day meet this type of person if only for once in their lives so they can share the joy that you felt sharing wonderful times with them and then remembering those times as we do when we remember Mark.



Mark was one of the nicest people I ever had the opportunity to meet and work with. My condolences to all of his family and friends.

You do not know me personally, nor have I ever had the blessing to have met Mark. I'm just an every day citizen on a mission to spread hope, love, and compassion to those most in need.

I had the opportunity to hire Mark into HP and we got to spend a lot of time together building amazing solutions and sharing some great personal stories. He was a true gentleman, and a real asset to HP and I was better for knowing him and working with him.

I have known the Strickert family since 1973.  Mark's father was the pastor of the church that I went to.  My heart goes out to all the Strickert family. 



Mark was absolutely fantastic, and one of the sharpest men I've ever met (that's quite a statement since we both graduated from Georgia Tech!). His wit, drive and expertise will be sorely missed.
