

Mark earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Mark joined IBM after graduation, where he met and fell in love with his best friend, Mary. At the time of his death, Mark was employed by Hewlett Packard.
Mark was an avid hiker and tennis player. From snowboarding to flying lessons to surfing, Mark was always ready for a new adventure. A talented engineer, he enjoyed learning how things worked and then fixing or improving them.
Mark was full of life and laughter. He delighted in inflicting corny jokes and puns on family and friends, and was a huge fan of Monty Python. A devoted father, Mark took great joy in helping his children learn everything from algebra to how to win at hearts. He was always the first to volunteer when help was needed, both in the community and in his children's schools.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary; daughter Caitlyn; son Connor; parents, Robert and Eunice Strickert; brother, Kevin and sister-in-law Anne; sister and brother-in-law, Carla Strickert Branch and Gary Branch; and many extended family members.
A memorial service celebrating Mark's life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. A reception will begin at noon prior to the memorial service. Guests are asked to wear bright, happy colors to symbolize the happiness Mark brought to his family and friends. Burial will take place in the Milano Cemetery, Milano, Texas.
