Martha Marie Shinn went to her new home in heaven on January 14, 2006. She was born on July 20, 1911 in Red Rock, Texas to Alma Louise and Louis Frank Wunneburger. Martha married Ivy Leonard Shinn, an agent for MKT Railroad, on April 7, 1926. They resided in Lockhart, Red Rock, and Morgan, Texas, before moving in March 1942 to Taylor, where they stayed for the remainder of their married years. Ivy died on June 10, 1966, and Martha moved to Austin where she lived next door to her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Gene Wilde. In Austin, Martha worked for Allergy Associates until her retirement in 1981. Her life was full of joy, as she visited with her grandchildren, painted pictures, crocheted, worked crossword puzzles, and emailed friends and family. A computer Christmas gift, when she was 89 was a welcomed challenge, and she enjoyed staying up on family news in modern fashion. After a stroke in 2002, Martha made an amazing adjustment, and resided at Retirement & Nursing Center and the Heritage Duval Gardens Nursing Facility. An abundance of visitors encouraged and blessed her last years. Martha was preceded in death by her son, James Dorace Shinn; brothers, Arnold Wunneburger, Elwood Wunneburger, Venice Wunneburger, and Charles Edward Wunneburger; and by sister, Theo Wunneburger. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Gene Wilde of Austin, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Wayne and Carolyn Shinn of Manor, Texas; daughter-in-law, Earline Shinn of Round Rock; sister, Lorena Faye Catching of Luling; grandchildren, Karen Obier, Debbie Bilse, David Shinn, Teresa Neal, Linnea Costas, Dianna Cooper, Alan Shinn, Daryl Wilde, and Darin Wilde. Eighteen great-grandchildren were also proud to be part of her family. Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ was her church home for thirty-nine years. She was a faithful member and enjoyed going to church. It was an important part of her life. Martha had a great appreciation for Gods love and faithfulness. She considered her family her greatest blessing and was very proud of them and loved them very much. Martha Marie Shinn will be missed very much. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Burial will be held at Taylor City Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
