

Mary Beth Baird Mary Beth Baird, 69, died early on August 18, 2003 of complications from cancer. Beth was born on August 14, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, M.C. "Bud" Baird, Jr. Educated at the University of North Texas, Beth worked in medical research after graduation and maintained her interest and connection with medicine for the rest of her life. She and Bud were married in 1956. Beth and Bud lived and worked in several cities around the country, as Bud managed and grew several businesses, before they settled in Austin in 1986. They quickly became well known and beloved members of the Austin community. Beth gave generously of herself to Austin charities and institutions, including Saint David's Hospital and the University of Texas. Beth was always ready to share both the benefits of her and Bud's work, as well as her opinion. The marriage of Bud and Beth Baird was a formidable partnership and Beth shared fully in the numerous accomplishments of her husband in the field of business. She was a strong willed and loving woman who has left a lasting impression on her community, her colleagues and her friends. Her generosity, her strength and her humor will be long felt and remembered. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20th at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.
