Mary is survived by her daughter Mary Borden Hedrick who resides at the Austin State School. She is also survived by cousins in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. Mary had many friends in Austin and was a member of the local DAR Chapter. Mary graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Home Economics and was a home demonstration agent in Tennessee.
Mary and her daughter moved to Austin during the 1960's and Mary lived for many years at the Rio House Apartments in downtown Austin. While living in Austin, Mary taught elementary school until she retired. During her active years, Mary worked tirelessly at the Texas Legislature on any issues regarding the multi-handicapped.
Over the years, Mary traveled extensively in both Europe and the United States and would often discuss her adventures with her good friends in Austin.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX.
