Mary Rowena McKinley McGaughey

Rowena McKinley McGaughey of Wichita Falls, Texas, was born May 25, 1923, in Hamilton, Texas, to Tom and Merle McKinley and passed away on April 7, 2015, in Austin, Texas. Rowena graduated from Texas Technological College with a bachelor of science in education. She was married to Robert Brown McGaughey, Sr. in 1945, and together they had three children. Rowena was an active member of University United Methodist Church.

Rowena was preceded in death by her husband, Brown McGaughey; her mother, Merle McKinley; her father, Tom McKinley; her sister, Mavis Miller; and her brother, Paul McKinley. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Shannon McGaughey Baade of Lewisville; Elizabeth McGaughey Payne of Austin; and Robert McGaughey of Wichita Falls. “Mema” was loved by her five grandchildren and her eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in East Mount Cemetery in Greenville, Texas, on Monday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Bryan Payne and Travis McGaughey, two of her grandsons, will be officiating. Pall bearers will be her grandsons Travis McGaughey, Jayson McGaughey, Bryan Payne, and her great-grandsons Scott Lyle, Todd Lyle, Nathanael Payne, Caleb Payne, Jaycob McGaughey, and Grady McGaughey.
