

Mary Ellen Dannelley was born in Elgin, Texas on July 25, 1918 to Robert Alvie Dannelley and Mary Alice Condron Dannelley, the second of five children. She attended Elgin schools and graduated from Elgin High School. After going to college in San Marcos, Southwest Texas State Teachers College, she received a teachers certificate and taught in rural schools in Bastrop County for three years. Mary was married to John (Jack) Randolph Williams on February 8, 1939. They had been married 67 years. To this union four children were born: John Randolph Williams, Jr. (who preceded his mother in death in 1982), Janice Lee Williams, Richard Ladd Williams and Robert Paul Williams. She is survived by her husband, three children, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Jennie Chance of San Antonio and Margaret Smith of San Marcos. Mary was a faithful and dedicated worker at Hyde Park Christian Church. For many years she was an active deaconess, elder and served on various committees. She was also a member and past president of the Womens Fellowship. Mary was a member and past president of the Stephen F. Austin chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Elgin City Cemetery.
