Maurice Lanell Diggs, Sr.

Maurice Lanell Diggs Sr., was born in Los Angeles, California on July 18, 1946, to the union of Roy Phaon and Ella Mae Diggs. Maurice, sadly departed this life, June 10, 2024, at the age of 77. Maurice took submission to Jesus Christ, at an early age, in Austin, Texas where he grew up. He was a member of the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin; under the leadership of the late Pastor N. W. Bacon Jr.

Maurice, was a graduate of the Old L. C. Anderson High School, Class of 1964. After high school, Maurice, went on to work for the City of Austin Water Dept., and retired after over 25 years of service. Maurice, had a love for washing and waxing his trucks, the San Francisco 49ers, the Redskins, and a good game of Dominos. Maurice, was also a proud member of Cheops Shriner Temple No. 200, in Austin, Texas.

Maurice, was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Phaon and Ella Mae Diggs, sister Muriel L. Easley, maternal grandmother Ora Mae Duvall and paternal grandparents, John and Penina Diggs, brother Roy P. Diggs, Jr., and uncle Richard (Night Train) Lane. He leaves to cherish his distinguished memory, a son Maurice L. Diggs Jr., daughter LaTasha Daniels, sister Rosalind Diggs, two grandsons Miles and Maurice III, nieces Vanice (Patrick), Tara, Autumn, a great-nephew Alexander, and a cluster of cousins and friends.
