Maynard lived a full life and excelled in everything to which he put his mind. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served in New Guinea during the war. Upon his return, Maynard began a long and distinguished career with the Veteran's Administration in Washington D.C. He was recognized by President Richard Nixon for his contribution to the Veteran's Administration and retired in 1979 after 32 years of service.
After retirement, Maynard moved to Texas, married Winnie, the love of his life, who worked for the VA in Austin, Texas and then settled down in Manchaca. He continued to be involved with his relatives and friends in the Washington D. C. and Maryland area. He dearly loved and was loved by family and friends.
