

Melvin “Joe” Parish, II passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at age 64, just shy of his 65th birthday. He was born on September 5, 1958, in Amarillo, TX. Joe was a beloved individual who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Joe was born the eldest son and second born child of Joe and Marilyn (Herring) Parish.
He grew up in Amarillo, TX and later moved to Austin, TX with his former wife Debbie Parish and their two children. He spent his career working in construction and was a skilled mechanic for many years. Joe will be remembered for his huge heart and a great sense of humor. He was never short of a story, or a quick-witted joke, and you could always count on him for long and entertaining conversations. He had, what his family lovingly refers to, as the “gift of gab”.
He loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Joe also loved dancing and playing the harmonica, bringing joy and a smile to those around him. His personality will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be missed dearly for who he was in his heart and his family finds comfort in the peace Joe now has with God.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kim Ann Parish Fuller; his grandparents, Bill and Fay Parish, and Tullie and Clara Herring.
He is survived by his brothers, Shawn of Amarillo, Shane and wife Sue, of Amarillo; his children in Austin, Erin Robertson and husband Ross, TJ and his girlfriend Maria; four grandchildren, Evyn, Trysten, Jeremiah, and Drew; his uncles and aunts, Max and Karen Parish, Duke and Jan Parish, and Jerry Herring; many cousins, nieces and nephews, including Kurry and wife Stephanie Parish, Kelsi Parish, Morgan Parish, and many cherished lifelong friends.
