

Micaela "Mickie" Izor died peacefully on July 11, 2013 at Park Bend Health Center in Austin, Texas. Micaela was born August 31, 1927 in Cueto, Cuba. In 1956, she arrived in the United States to attend Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She obtained her training in Medical Technology at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Micaela married Robert R. Izor in 1967. Together they raised two children, Melissa and Robert Michael. Micaela was a loving, generous and gracious mother. Her deep and abiding support of her family was a reflection of her tenacity and moral conviction. In her final years, her quiet strength served her well, and through her example, she taught everyone around her the power of love, humility and acceptance.
Micaela became a United States citizen in 1965 and was employed at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Micaela lived in Austin since 2004 and previously in Atlanta, GA; Louisville, KY; Little Rock, AR; and Houston, TX.
Her parents Manuel and PIlar Novoa Perez and her siblings predecease her: Emilia Novoa Perez, Jesus Novoa Perez, Candida Novoa Blanco and Antonio Novoa Perez. Her husband and children survive her.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2 pm. She will be interned at Remembrance Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Alzheimer's Association.
