

On October 8, 2015, Michael Mansfield Owsley died peacefully in his sleep. He was only 61 years old. Pulmonary embolisms were a shock to his family and friends. But his Heavenly Father called him home.
Michael was born on April 9, 1954 in Houston, Texas. He was the eldest son of Barbara Robinson and Alvin M. Owsley. Houston was his home for most of his life, but he cherished his family summers in Leland, Michigan. Michael attended St John’s School for his primary and secondary education, graduating in June, 1972. During his senior year, the “Big O” was Captain of the football, basketball and golf teams, and was All Conference Linebacker. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was a brother of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He went on to Southern Methodist University Law School and South Texas College of Law.
Michael was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Houston. He and his loving wife, Robbie Gail Charette sang with the Sanctuary singers for more than 10 years and were active members of the Covenant Class. After moving to Brenham in 2009, Michael enjoyed making many new friends, the fellowship at Calvary Baptist Church, swimming at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, checking out books at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library and daily samples at the Blue Bell Creamery.
Michael is predeceased by his mother Barbara Robinson Owsley, his father-in-law Gilferd R Charette, and his brother-in-law George McFadden. He is survived by many relatives and friends including his loving wife, Robbie Gail Charette Owsley, his beloved father Alvin M Owsley, his beloved mother-in-law Mary Helen Charette, his beloved aunt Merline Tanner, his beloved uncle David T Owsley, his sister Carol McFadden and her children and his brother Steven Owsley with his wife and children. Robbie Gail and the rest of the family wish to recognize Victoria Boone Walker for a lifetime of love and care.
A private memorial reception will be held Tuesday, October 20th from 5:00-7:00pm. But a public celebration of Michael’s life will be on his birthday, April 9, 2016 in Brenham to dedicate the Michael Mansfield Owsley Memorial Playground at Fireman’s Park.
