Born in Patterson, Louisiana on October 10, 1926, to James and Libby Wilson, Mildred grew up surrounded by a close-knit, loving family and had four siblings. She graduated from the Louisiana Public School System and soon thereafter began her journey toward a lifetime of dedicated devotion to family and community service.
Mildred shared a beautiful marriage of 57 joyful years with the love of her life, her late husband Earl Taylor. Through their marriage they were blessed with four children. Together they were known affectionately as "Lemon Drop" and "Lemon Squeezer," charming CB enthusiasts with a great sense of humor. She proudly managed households professionally for many years before deciding to retire, dedicating herself fully to caring for her ailing son, Willie James Taylor Sr, "WJ".
Muh deeply valued her faith and became a loyal member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1961, proudly serving as a Deaconess and member of the Usher Board. Her devotion extended beyond the church walls; Mildred actively volunteered as part of her neighborhood watch, visited and prayed faithfully for the sick and earned recognition through a prestigious Black Community Award.
Fondly remembered for her hospitality and warmth, Muh loved cooking and frequently hosting memorable family events and gatherings. She was known to remain active later in life—enjoying exercises in her swimming pool and finding relaxation playing games on her tablet.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Earl Taylor, her sons Alvin Taylor Sr. and Willie James Taylor Sr, siblings Evolia Givan, Shirley Willis, and Willie Wilson. She is survived by daughters Barbara Black (Nathaniel) and Peggy Whalon (Andy), brother James Hurst, as well as numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
