

He was born on December 10, 1954 to Norman (Gabby) Johnson and JoAnn Klug Johnson in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Mitch spent his first 45 years in northeast Nebraska where he raised his four children and passionately coached baseball and softball. Ladder of which consisted of the Pierce Pacers, who along with numerous state championships and tournament placings qualified for regionals for the first time in Pierce History. In 2001, Mitch and his children relocated to Cedar Park, Texas to be closer to family.
In the last years of his life, in spite of the pain and suffering, Mitch found every opportunity to bring joy to a strangers life. His joy to others will continue to live on through books that will be donated to the MD Anderson library.
For those who knew him he will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, his passion for sports, gift of gab, his hearty appetite, his devotion to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and his never ending love for his children.
He is proceeded in death by death his father, Norman Johnson. He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Johnson; his sister, Rhonda Smith and her husband Jerry Smith, along with their two sons, Zac and Layton. His son, Troy Johnson and three daughters, Tara, Michell, and Morgan Johnson; along with his grand-children, Marques and Ellody Idrogo.
Family will receive friends at 5:00pm on Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at the Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin Texas, with Memorial Services at 6:00pm. Services will conclude at 7:00pm at Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home.
