Moffitt Waters, Jr. was born in Florence County, South Carolina on June 20, 1938. He was born to the late Moffit, Sr. and Velmae G. Waters. He was called from labor to reward on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Moffitt was educated in Florence County public schools. Moffitt joined the United States Air Force on February 3, 1956, and was honorably discharged on March 19, 1958. Moffitt began his pursuit of multiple degrees in the field of social work by attending the University of Texas at Austin, and Prairie View A&M University. Moffitt was employed by the State of Texas for over 20 years, until he retired, and also worked as a bartender and waiter part-time for many years.
Moffitt accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and has been a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Austin, TX. He served faithfully as a Cathechist and member of the Knights of Peter Claver. He was known to be a man of strength, faith, and passion, and always full of laughter.
Moffitt married Mary Wilson on April 20, 1956. This union was blessed with three children, Norman Waters, Adrianne Waters and Michael Waters.
Moffitt loved collecting books and videos and always talked about writing his own science fiction book. He was always one for conversation and would keep you occupied for hours with his stories.
In addition to his parents, Moffitt is preceded in death by his son, Norman Lee Waters; brother Buford Lee Waters; four sisters, Olivia F. Waters, Carolyn A. Waters, Edna Jo Waters, and Jean (Charlie) Brockington; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Jones and other extended family and friends.
Moffitt leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Michael (Adela) Waters, Elgin, TX; his daughter Adrianne White, Beaumont, TX; 5 grandchildren, Jaelyn Waters, Rondarian (Veronica) Waters, Trenton White, Michael White III, David White; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1610 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
