

Alice Earls Bridges was born August 4, 1939 in Austin, Texas to the union of the late Rev. Mace and Mildred Earls. Alice accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church where she was a long-standing member until she united with Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. At the Mount, she served in the All Cancer Survivors Ministry, New Church Committe, Senior Ministry Fellowship (Senior Adults), Vintage Voices, and Wisdom Sunday School class. She remained a faithful member unti health challenges hindered her participation. Alice received her elementary education at L.L. Campbell Elementary School and secondary education at Kealing Junior High School. She attended L.C. Anderson High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. After graduation, she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and the University of Texas at Austin. Alice was employed by the University of Texas at Austin in the departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Purchasing. She also worked at the J.J. Pickle Research Center as a Procurement Officer. Alice retired from UT in August of 2000 after nearly 40 years of service. She did not stop being active, but volunteered at Family Eldercare from 1999 to 2010. She worked with clients as an advocate in the Money Management Program. She also volunteered with AARP and worked at the Express MD Urgent Care as a Registration Clerk. She leaves to cheris her precious memories: her brother, Garland Earls; sister, Rosa Johnson; niece, Gayna Wilson; nephew, Garland Mace Johnson; great niece, Adriana; great nephew, Jordan Alexander; great great nephew, Logan Alexander; great Aunt, Velma Mitchell, great Uncle, J.W. Roberson (Daisy) of Los Angeles, CA; two Aunts, Minnie V. Sheppard and Pearline Earls; and a great number of cousins and special close friends.
